Motorcycle Reflective Safety Tape - Black Adhesive This black glossy adhesive motorcycle safety tape is blends in with black surfaces during the day and shines a bright white reflection at night. The reflective tape kit includes 24 inches of 1" wide, 24 inches of 2" wide, and 12 inches of 4" wide black reflective motorcycle tape.
The tape kit can be cut into strips, special shapes, or pinstripes, and easily applied to motorcycle surfaces, helmets, leather, boot heels, and even saddlebags to make you visible to oncoming or following headlights. The self-adhesive strips bond exceptionally well to any smooth, clean, dry surface. Be seen, Be safe!
How This Material Reflects Light Amanet Reflective Tapes and Stickers contain a layer of microscopic lenses coated onto the surface. An auto's lights hit this and the bright light will shine back to the driver's eyes, making you visible from a very long distance away. The best way to test this at home is to put the reflective material at approximately 20 feet away, flat against a wall, at eye level, directly in front of the sticker or tape. For testing once installed, put the headlights of an auto at approximately 200 to 300 feet directly behind the bike, on a level road. At just 10 feet away you won't see the brightest reflection because the angle of the headlight-reflector-eye is too large (See the illustration below). In the real world 10 to 20 feet away is too close for a car to first notice you and stop. The reflective tape or sticker is designed so an auto can see you and your bike hundreds of feet away.
Increases visibility at night.
This material is hiighly reflective and increases my Honda 750 ACE's visibility at night. However, if this is placed at an angle other than 90 degrees to the viewer the visibility is diminished a great deal. There is enough material to highlight more than one bike. You need a utility knife to cut this material, but it is easy to work with and comes with good instructions. Would have given a 5 rating if reflectivity was greater at a viewing angle of less than perpendicular. I think this is a good deal and would purchase again for safety's sake. Shipping was very fast and all was as described.

Increased Visibility...but...
First I would like to say that the shipping on this item was outstanding. I received my item within 3 days after placing the order. Kudos to BikerHiway. Now for the review.The black reflective tape works as good as can be expected. It is BLACK, therefore it will not reflecte as much light as does white reflective tape. The same holds true for the Red reflective tape and any other non-white colors. I digress. The black tape does reflect light and is virtually unseen on black items. I have a black motorcycle and placed a few strips of this material at key spots and to the novice, would go unnoticed during the day. I used this on fiberglass and metal and the the material was easiy to apply...just clean the spot first. I am not sure how well it will stick on soft items, such as saddlebags or seats.I would but this item again when needed. This is easily cut with sharp sissors.

It works GREAT, IF you understand it...
This tape works very very well. I've used it on my bicycle, as well as on a headlamp I use for camping (the headlamp is black, so I put a strip of this on it so that it will show up when I search for it using my little LED button light).I looked at this tape here on Amazon, and to my surprise, I saw some negative reviews stating that the tape is not reflective. In some cases, this is true (but these are cases that aren't actually representative of the product's intended use). Here is why: the tape is retroreflective. In technical terms this means that when light is shone on it, the light is reflected back along the incident path, irrespective of the angle of incidence. Translation: when you shine light on this tape, the light bounces back directly towards the source of the light. So please, after reading this, don't shine your fancy high output flashlight from the level of your waist and curse the tape for being defective. When testing how reflective this tape is,... Used for low light situtations!
Awesome product. I use it on my motorcycle & bicycle helmets. Its sticky enough to stay on, but not permanently. I can always take it off without messing up the paint. Top to learn more
Bask in it's *reflective* glory
Yeah, this stuff works pretty darn well. I could tell even from hitting it with an LED keychain light in my dark apartment that the stuff lights right up under some pretty weak sources. As it turns out, with a little bit of care, you can get it to conform to a lot of different surfaces too. I got mine to conform to my motorcycle helmet perfectly. Fantastic product; a lifesaver
This is an outstanding product! Works best on a dark fabric, as in daylight it basically appears black, but that would be a matter of taste. But at night, when hit by light, it's like it has its own batteries! The photo really gives you a good idea of its appearance in a headlight beam. Very lightweight & flexible; sews on very easily. I bought it for my teenage daughter's "messenger bag." She didn't want a backpack with already sewn-on reflectors (e.g. LL Bean), and coats with reflective patches were out ("not cool," but I also wanted something she would use every day - well, she has to take her books, but doesn't always need a jacket). I needed something that would blend in with the bag & strap material (teens are so conscious of appearance!) and not "stand out" when it wasn't needed, yet blaze out for safety. Quality product for a fair price.
I have several late classes this semester, and I ride a motorcycle as my main mode of transportation. My bike pops out thanks to some LED lights, but I noticed there was nothing to alert the people behind me that I was there. I decided to put reflective tape on my backpack. I didn't want white tape because it would stick out during the day too much. So I looked into this.After receiving the product, I promptly opened the package to examine what I obtained. I placed one of the the rolls across the room from me and shined a flash light on it, and I have to say for being black it shines like it was white to begin with. One of the reviewers above me noted that spray adhesive can be used without affecting the reflective material, so I decided to try Mighty Mendit and had no problems either. Motorcycle Reflective Safety Tape - Black Sew-On Stealthy Satin Black during the day blends with dark clothing, but turns bright, for visibility and safety at night.
This kit contains 48 inches of 1" wide, 48 inches of 2" wide, and 24 inches of 4" wide Black Reflective Fabric. In all, 240 square inches of bright nighttime visibility. Material is a blend of 35% cotton, and 65% polyester. It's soft, washable, easy manageable in cutting, slitting and sewing. It can easily be cut into strips or pieces, any shape, and sewn to shirts, jeans, jackets, and even leather.
This tape is machine washable up to 105ºF (warm) and can be machine dried, however, to maximize its life, we recommend washing on gentle cycle and use of a low temperature dryer setting, or line drying. Be Seen, Be Safe!
